Joanne Verhasselt, age 76, of Freedom, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, April 19, 2018 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton with family by her side. She was born July 20, 1941, to the late Carl and Esther Schroeder.
On July 21, 1962, Joanne was united in marriage to Joseph Verhasselt. In 1965, Joanne and Joseph purchased their farm in De Pere and worked side-by-side for over 50 years before retiring. Joanne was an avid gardener, enjoyed cooking for her family, and listening to country music.
Joanne is survived by her spouse Joseph and five children: Sheri (Carlos) del Plaine, Don (Wendy) Verhasselt, Lisa (Jamie Kohl) Banker, Deb (Matt) Blohm, and Greg (Amie) Verhasselt; grandchildren: Dylan Banker, Taylor Banker, Alyssa del Plaine, Nicole del Plaine, Adam Verhasselt, Jordan Blohm, Mikayla Blohm, Hunter Kohl, Ryan Verhasselt, and Eric Verhasselt.
Joanne is further survived by siblings: Carol Tyler, Earl (Suzanne) Schroeder, Jeanette Strobel, Donald (Margaret) Schroeder, Doris Culver, Duane (Karen) Schroeder, Gordon (Jean) Schroeder, Barb Bahr; sister-in-law Nancy Schroeder; her husband’s family: Jim (Marilyn) Verhasselt, Dorothy (Ted) Vosters, Earl (Dolly) Verhasselt, Fr. Dave Verhasselt, Tom (Terri) Verhasselt, Pat (Bill) Brockman, Gerry Vande Burgt, Evie Verhasselt, and Joyce Verhasselt; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her brother Larry Schroeder; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Eugene Tyler, Merl Strobel, Gordy Bahr, Betty Van Zeeland, Len and Betty Verhasselt, Rose Vande Burgt, Agnes and Clayton Vande Burgt, and Bob Verhasselt.
