John H. Banker, 81, of Black Creek, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, April 26, 2017 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, with his family by his side. He was born September 24, 1935, son of the late Stanley and Viola (Kern) Banker.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Black Creek. John was a member of Wisconsin State Historical Society, Nichols and Seymour Historical Assoc., Black Creek Lions Club, Fox Valley Two Cylinder Club, Florida Fly Wheelers Tractor Club, and the Black Creek Legion. He furnished sweetcorn, for the corn roast for "Music in the Park" and worked at the Florida State Fair.
John was employed with Schneider Trucking for over 40 years. He farmed in the Town of Cicero, growing sweet corn, vegetables and beef cattle.
He is survived by his children: Linda Banker (Chuck), Ken (Jean) Banker, Carol (Mike) Kuehne, Kathy (Dale) Kropp, Judy (Steve) Hackl, Jim (Pam) Banker, Mary (Dean) Vander Plas, and Dave Banker; 25 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (Connie) Banker and Stanley (Linda) Banker; sisters: Dolores (Harold) Pingel, Dorothy Thomas, Janet (Dick) Rathsack, and Shari (Gene) Patzner.
Preceded in death by sisters, Marion and Grace.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Friday, April 28, 2017, from 4-8 p.m. Visitation will continue St. Mary's Catholic Church, Black Creek on Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. with Father Theodore Hendricks officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery with Military Rites performed by the Black Creek American Legion.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for Nichols Historical Club and/or the Black Creek American Legion.
