John J. Soares, 73, of Seymour, WI, passed away Sunday morning, August 2, 2015 at his home. He was born July 27, 1942, son of the late John and Mary (Cogswell) Soares.
John was a Vietnam Army veteran where he was a door gunner on a helicopter and a machinist serving in the Army for 24 years retiring as a Master Sergeant, with many decorated service honors, including the Decoration for Valor and the Forty Oak Leaf Cluster. He was also a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Crew Member Association.
He was a member of the Seymour American Legion.
John is survived by his special friend and long time companion, Donna Moore; his children: Carol (Guy) Parker, Rhode Island; Lynda (Colleen) Hoyle, Rhode Island; Aaron (Pam) Soares, Massachusetts; Heather Noel, Pulaski; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers: David Soares, Louis Soares, Jay Soares; two sisters: Mary Ann Way and Jeanne Brockway; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded by a brother, Michael Soares.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 5 p.m. until services at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Phil Engle officiating with Military Rites to follow. Burial will take place in King Veterans Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at
