Joseph Meyer

Joseph "Average Joe" J. Meyer, age 65, of Appleton left this earthly home on September 13, 2013 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born May 28, 1948 to the late Donald and Frieda (Lenca) Meyer in Chicago. He attended Gage Park High School in Chicago.

On September 5, 1992 he was united in marriage to Susan M. Fontaine of Green Bay.

Joe lived passionately, loved his wife, enjoyed many friends, embraced life on his terms, and lived it fully. He had a quick wit and was always ready with the next joke even before anyone knew it was coming.

He enjoyed fishing, having a finely manicured lawn, and LOVED his cars.

Joe was a member of Fox Vettes Corvette Club, Valley Classic Cruizers, and former member of Valley Vettes.

Joe was semi-retired from AIM Logistics. He operated Spirit Logistics as a subcontractor to AIM for 10 years. Joe has also worked with Kehe Foods, V+S Midwest, ICE, Anchor Express, Packerland, Laser, N+M Transfer, Kujak, and Schanno.

Joe was a member and strong supporter of Woman's Life Chapter 72 in Kaukauna. He also volunteered and participated with many non-profit organizations throughout the Fox Valley and Wisconsin.

In addition to his wife Sue, Joe is survived by his son Barry, New Mexico; sister Merryann (George) Wen, Delavan, WI; nephew Adam (Christine) Wen, two nieces: Melisse' Wen and Audrey (Kory) Weiss. He is further survived by his mother-in-law Betty Lou Fontaine; three brothers-in-law: Gary (Kim), Dean (Terri), and Todd (Barb); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by a son Joey; father-in-law Fabian "Fibber" Fontaine; and his favorite uncle George Meyer.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, 358 S. Main Street, Seymour, WI on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 4 pm to 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 9 am until the memorial service at 11 am with Pastor Tim Snell officiating.
