Joyce Sherman, age 93, Appleton, formerly of Seymour, passed away at home on February 19, 2023. She was born on January 12, 1930 to the late George and Kathleen (Brownson) Blohm.
Joyce grew up in the Seymour area, having graduated Seymour High School in 1947. She was a lifelong member of New Life Methodist Church in Seymour.
On November 13, 1948 she was united in marriage to James Sherman, at the Seymour Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2011.
She had worked for the Seymour Press, Dr. Marilyn Heinke, and Shopko Optical.
Joyce was very active in Scouts, having been a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. She was also a member American Legion Auxiliary for over 70 years having served as President, Secretary, and various other committees. She was also a past member of the Broken Wheel Riding Club and the Dairyland Snowmobile Club.
Survivors include: one daughter, Penny (James) Much; five sons: Bruce (Beverly) Sherman, Scott (Cindy) Sherman; Gregory (Connie) Sherman, Kenton (Darlene) Sherman; and Kevin (Amanda) Sherman; 16 grandchildren: Corey Sherman, Jenny (Valdir) Tonsig, Jamie (Scott) Slone, Stacy (Colin) Huffer, Jody (Michael) Wormley, Billie Jo Sherman, Kyle (MacKenzie) Sherman, Ryan (Sara) Sherman, Caleb (Courtney) Sherman, Brittany Sherman, McKenna Sherman, Nicholas Sherman, Brooke (Eddie) Holland, Thomas (Andrea) Sherman, Scott (Trina) Chandler, and Shawn (Christy) Chandler; 25 great-grandchildren: Scarlett Weatherup, Sage Weatherup, Beckett Slone, Aiden Slone, Alexandra Wormley, Andrew Wormley, Aliyah Sherman, Hayden Sherman, Paysen Sherman, Taylin Sherman, Evan Sherman, Ella Sherman, and another on the way, Jameson Sherman, Raylee Holland, Sophia Sherman, Wyatt Sherman, Kate Holland, Ethan Holland, Elizabeth Holiday, Evan Bachman, Derick Harvey, Mabrey Smith, Jon Chandler, Ryan Chandler, and Rachael Black.
She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Betty Blohm; life-long friend, Dorothy Steward; her very special friends of the cardiac group, and a furry friend, Kali Kat.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Caroline (Al) Storma; brother, William Blohm; brother-in-law, Danforth Sherman; sisters-in-law: Kathleen Krabbe and Colleen Cashman.
Visitation will take place at New Life Methodist Church, 721 Pleasant Way, Seymour, on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Gail Ray officiating. Burial will take place in spring at Seymour City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joyce's honor can be made to New Life Methodist Church.
