Julia Lucas

Julia C. Lucas, age 100, formerly of Winnetka, IL, passed away on Monday, January 4th, 2016 at Good Shepherd Meadow Wood Assisted Living in Seymour, WI. She was born in the Netherlands on October 20th, 1915, the daughter of the late Fred and Jennie (Coenradie) Hoekstra. On April 30th, 1935, she married Alfred Lucas who preceded her in death on June 16th, 2008.
Julia was a very caring and giving person. Throughout her entire life, family was always her first priority. She was always there to listen and offer support in both good and challenging times. She loved playing cards, and was always ready for a good game of hand and foot.
Survivors include her two children: Alfred R. (Janet) Lucas, Hobe Sound, FL; and Barbara J. (William) Wangerin, De Pere, WI; six grandchildren: Laurie Wangerin, De Pere, WI; William (Laura) Wangerin, Jr., Chicago, IL; David (Jodi) Wangerin, Greenleaf, WI; Heather (William) Donlan, Sanford, FL; Julie (Scott) Berken, Appleton, WI; and Meredith (James) Dickey, Center Valley, PA; four great-grandchildren: Kara, Lucas, Molly and Jakob; and one great-great granddaughter, Madelyn.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Charles, Fred, Kay, Veronica, Johana and Cybil; and one great-granddaughter, Caitlin Dickey.
A private family service will be held at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Green Bay, WI with Father Bob Kabat officiating. Entombment will be in Des Plaines, IL with her loving husband of 73 years.
