Karla Nooyen

May 23, 1954 — June 26, 2013

I, Karla Nooyen, age 59, passed away on Wednesday evening, June 26, 2013 due to pancreatic cancer with my husband and family supporting me. I was born May 23, 1954 to Alice and Vernon Duhm. I enjoyed reading, walking and spending time with my family.
I am survived by my husband Ruben of Seymour. Together, we had 4 children; Brianna Nooyen living at home dating Austin Abendroth, Bryce married to Amy Nooyen of Middletown PA, Troy married to Carly Nooyen of Pulaski, and Heather married to Jeff Brandt of Greenleaf. We also 4 grandchildren: Trever and Conner, sons of Troy and Carly, and Laken and Ryah, daughters of Heather and Jeff.
I am also survived by my mom, Alice Duhm, 2 sisters: Cheryl Duhm of Black Creek, Karen (Ken) Borchardt of Brillion and brother, James Duhm of Appleton.
I also had many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded me in death are my dad, Vernon Duhm and Henry and Adele Nooyen; niece and nephew, Carrie and Aaron Borchardt.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will contine on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Roland Lindeman officiating. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery in Seymour. I ask that all acts of kindness and sympathy be directed toward a memorial fund in my name.
I want to thank everyone for all the cards and gifts I received while being treated for cancer. I want to thank the emergency room staff at St. Mary's Hospital, the doctors: Dr. Warren, Dr. Winkler of Green Bay, and Dr. La Conte of Madison, and of course all of the staff at St. Mary's Hospital, especially the staff at the Oncology Center and the people from Unity Hospice. I can't begin to name names; there are so many. You all have been helpful and understanding even when I wasn't my best. So thank you. Everyone that waved or talked to me while I was walking, it sure helped to encourage me.
The best words someone can say to someone like me is "we're thinking of you" or "we're praying for you" So thanks to all of you that said those words to me. Remember I didn't give up, but I had to be realistic. Written by Karla Nooyen
