Katherine A. Seymour, 78, of Denmark passed away at home on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. She was born on April 23, 1943 in Rockford, IL to Martin and Ruth (Shugars) Schelm.
She was a faithful member of Faith Community United Methodist Church in Greenville.
Katherine was united in marriage to Daniel Seymour on September 1, 1962 at First Presbyterian Church in Winnebago, IL. The couple lived in Illinois for three years before moving to Greenville.
She enjoyed quilting at church and making baby quilts, and diamond painting. Traveling to Florida by her relatives also was something she looked forward to. Her biggest joy was all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Our mom was the strongest person that we know.
She is survived by her children: Dennis (Sarah), Earl, Deanna (Tom) Helmeid, Rick (Lynn), Karrie (Gregg) Laabs, and Kevin (Sandy); special friend, Jeff (Chris) Harris; grandchildren: Chelsea, Dayna (Ben), Whitney, Danielle (CJ), Jacob, Kim, Allie (Brent), Troy (Crystal), Tabitha (Marcus), Trevor, Timothy (Missy), Nicole (Charlie), Jacquie, Jenna (Jordan), Emily (Shawn), Zach (Lyssa), Dean (Nicole), Hailey (Kevin), Katie, Casey (Melissa), Jeremy (Kristie), Corey (Shae), and Willie; great-grandchildren: Bridger, Brayden, Lucas, Cora, Aundreya, Trinity, Magnolia, Kamora, Rory, Athena, Jaylynn, Sofeya, Lincoln, Annabelle, Katie, Carter, Abby, Abigail, Mason, Wyatt, Wesley, Brecklyn, Evelyn, Olivia, Xaden, Anneliese, Trenton, Amelia, and Ophelia.
Further survived by Carl (Marge) Schelm; sister, Linda Shadden; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Doty Schelm, Clara (Cliff) McLain, Patricia Stroup, Ken Gilgan, Randy (Midge) Seymour, Ken (Aggie) Seymour, Bob (Tammy) Seymour, Donald Seymour, and Terry (Terri) Seymour; nieces, nephews, god-children, other relatives, friends, and her special "Mally kitty".
in addition to her husband and parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her brothers: Bill and Jerry Schelm; brother-in-law, Alfred Seymour; and sister-in-law, Violet Gilgan.
Visitation will take place at Faith Community United Methodist Church, Greenville on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 9 am until services at 11 am with Pastor Listowel Ayensu-Mensah officiating.
