Kathleen (Kathy) A. Koch (nee Yost), 80, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on June 7, 2024.
Kathy was born on October 15, 1943, in Waukegan, Illinois, to Lawrence and Mary Jane Yost. Kathy met Henry Koch Jr. in late 1962 on a blind date, and married him three months later, on January 19, 1963. They settled in Green Bay and started their family.
Kathy was a dedicated stay-at-home mom with many interests. She enjoyed baking, gardening, canning, sewing (especially feety pajamas for the grandchildren), needlepoint, cross-stitch, knitting and crocheting. She dabbled in chair caning and reupholstering. In her later years, she took up quilting, creating quilts for her grandchildren. Kathy's greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. They were everything to her. Kathy enjoyed every moment she spent with them. Grandma was always willing to buy them something special or take them out to lunch. She was excited to be a great grandma this December.
Kathy attended many activities her children were involved in. She enjoyed watching basketball games, gymnastic meets, concerts, swim meets, plays and musicals. Kathy was an avid sports fan enjoying the Packers, Brewers, and NASCAR as well as the local sports team like the Gamblers and Rockers.
Kathy was a member of the local "Violet Club" and the "Homesteaders" homemaker club. Kathy was an active volunteer with the YMCA Swim Team. She was presented the Greater Green Bay YMCA "Volunteer of the Year" award in 1989.
Kathy is survived by her five children: Henry Koch III, Lori (Gary) Salo, Veronica (Tim) Noe, Karla (Mike) Jones, and Heidi (Paul) Carrick. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Rachael Koch, Elizabeth Koch (Dallas Laurin-Garza), Garrin Salo (Kaitlyn Kibble), Gabrianna Salo, Nicole Muenster (Dustin), Travis Noe, Abigail Carrick (Adam Meyer), and Dalton Carrick. She is also survived by her nieces Susan Kinsey (Andrew Shepard), Elizabeth Kinsey (Amanda Wojahn) and nephews Paul (Patty) Koch and James Kinsey. Brownie, her cat, helped keep her company until the time of her passing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Koch Jr, her parents, Lawrence Yost and Mary Jane and Herbert Bown, her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Martin Tyskling, her mother in-law and father-in-law, Barbara and Henry Koch Sr, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris and Floyd Herring and brother-in-law William Kinsey.
A funeral mass to celebrate Kathy's life will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at St. Joseph's Church, 145 St. Joseph Drive, Oneida at 11:00 AM with Father Paul Paider officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Interment to follow at the parish cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Wisconsin Humane Society or Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary in Kathy's name.
