Kennedy Kristine Van Asten, 21, Little Chute, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 19, 2023, after a long battle with an eating disorder. She was born on January 11, 2002, to Doug and Amy (Hofacker) Van Asten. Kennedy was a 2020 graduate of Little Chute High School. She continued her education at UW-Oshkosh, where she majored in psychology and always made the Dean's List. Her future goal was to run a treatment center with a nurturing environment for people with eating disorders.
Kennedy had a passion for dancing and making crafts for others. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and campfires; in her younger years she liked picking up frogs and crabs and wasn't afraid of anything. Kennedy cherished family time; spending time with her mom watching movies, Family Feud, and family game nights were some of her favorites. Above all, Kennedy was a giver. She loved to give presents and take care of Kade and all his friends. Her quick wit and jokes will always be remembered.
She is survived by her parents, Doug (Amy) Van Asten; brother, Kade Van Asten; paternal grandmother, Vicky Van Asten; maternal grandmother, Geraldine Hofacker; Godparents, Teri and Lance Simons; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and friends.
Kennedy was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Melvin "Butch" Van Asten, maternal grandfather, Henry "Hank" Hofacker; aunt, Kristine "Krissy" Hofacker; and uncle, David Hofacker; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 411 Vandenbroek Street, Little Chute, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at 5:00 p.m., Father Ronald Belitz officiating, Deacon Jeff Hofacker assisting.
