Lance Schmidt
March 28, 1970 — October 27, 2017
Lance R. Schmidt, 47, of Hortonville, was called home to God unexpectedly on Friday, October 27, 2017. He was born in Wausau on March 28, 1970. On June 25, 1994 he was united in marriage to his soulmate Barbara Betley.
Lance was a loving husband and father who was driven by God to make a difference in others' lives. He strived to help others in their faith in the church and community. He enjoyed making memories with his family and friends, old and new. He also loved hunting, fishing and playing cards up north in God's Country.
He is survived by his bride, Barbara; children: Alec, Anna, and Emily; parents, Roy and Judith Schmidt; sister, Jodi (Chris) Kluck; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jack and Gloria Betley; brothers-in-law: Jeff (Jena) Betley, Tony (Stefanie) Betley, Thomas (Jesi) Betley. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and two loving dogs.
Friends may call at First English Lutheran Church, North Site, 6331 N. Ballard Road Appleton, WI on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 9:00 am until the memorial service at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, an education fund for the children has been established.
