Lawrence H. Meulemans, 84, of Black Creek, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 5, 1933, son of the late Herman and Isabelle (Young) Meulemans. On April 30, 1955, he was united in marriage to Nancy Simon.
Lawrence moved to the Town of Cicero in 1933, where he farmed to this present day, while farming he also hauled can milk, bulk milk and collected antique tractors. He operated the family sawmill with help from his family. He worked for the Town of Cicero, logging, building barns, roofing, and general carpentry. He was a great mentor to his family.
Lawrence was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Black Creek.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children: John (Debbie) Meulemans, Ray (Heidi) Meulemans, Sue (special friend, Randy Huff) Kastning, Dan (Cindy) Meulemans, Ken Meulemans, Linda (Michael) Barclay, Dennis (Kris) Meulemans, Wayne (Pam) Meulemans, Barb (special friend, Dayne) Hess, Joe (Juli) Meulemans, Judy (Dan) Simpson; 34 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; sister-in-law, Darlene Foster; and brother-in-law, Butch Simon.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Nancy Meulemans; son-in-law, John Kastning; siblings: Marie (Lavern) Keenan, Ceclia (Roland) Paige and John Meulemans; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Fred and Armeda Simon; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Rose (Jim) Tonn, Meade (Jim) Recker, Shirley Simon, Paul Forster, Florence Simon and Rosemarie Simon.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Sunday, August 12, 2018, from 4-8 pm. Visitation will continue at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Black Creek on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 9:30 am until the funeral mass at 11:00 am with Father Theodore Hendricks officiating.
