NIESPODZANY, LEONA J. (HOLEWINSKI)

Leona J. (Holewinski) Niespodzany, 79, of Seymour, died on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. She was born on March 29, 1931 in the Town of Hartland in Shawano County, daughter of the late Anton and Catherine (Teschner) Holewinski. Leona married Alex Niespodzany on September 29, 1951 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Navarino. During her life Leona worked at the Pulaski Shoe Company, St. John Catholic School as a cook, and she spent 23 years at the Chilton Globe Toy Factory in Seymour working on the assembly line. After retirement she worked part-time at the Fox Valley Green House at Chicago Corners. Leona was known for her love of gardening, especially picking raspberries. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing, and she spent many hours working on "missing word" puzzles. Leona was a huge fan of Country Music and enjoyed going to concerts. She saw over 100 entertainers during her life.

Survivors include her husband: Alex; her children: James (Nancy), Seymour; Nancy Taylor, Marietta, GA; Sandy Skinkis-Niespodzany, Seymour; Eugene, Seymour. Eight grandchildren: Jaime (Keith) Schumacher, Black Creek; Morgan (Jason) Bonnin, Seymour; Jennifer (Steven) Jessup, Herndon, VA; Chris Skinkis, Coffeyville, KS; Eric Niespodzany, Madison, WI; Justine Skinkis, Kimberly; Lauren (Jared) Smith, Dallas, GA; Michael Skinkis, Seymour; two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; three sisters-in-law: Mary Holewinski, Neenah; Dorothy Holewinski, Seymour; Florence Holewinski, Green Bay. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and two sisters-in-law: Adam, John, Felix (Geraldine), Oliver, Harry, Chester, Emil (Elaine); two sisters and brothers-in-law: Irene (Lawrence) Duescher, Alice (Anton) Bogacz; one niece: Janet (Bogacz) Mayer; two nephews: David Holewinski, Allen Holewinski. Also, her beloved dogs: Tootsie, Mitzi, Angie.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Friday, July 30, 2010 from 4 PM until 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM and Saturday, July 31, 2010 at St. John's Catholic Church, Seymour from 9:30 AM until funeral services at 11 AM with Father Bob Kabat.
