Leonard "Lenny" Linsmeyer, 72, of Seymour passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 22, 2025. He was born on December 10, 1952 son of the late Joseph and Theresa (Hermus) Linsmeyer.
He was united in marriage to Cynthia Sievert on August 11, 1973 having celebrated over 51 years together.
Lenny was a gifted carpenter for 53 plus years having started in construction at the age of 18. He formed Len's Custom Building in 1995, having built and remodeled many homes in the area, and continued until his retirement, although he never officially retired. Len took great pride in the last home that he built. He always made time to mentor the youth interested in the trade of construction.
In his younger days, he played basketball in the VFW league for 14 years and bowled in couples leagues for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting and never missed a year with his son Jacob, best friends, Mel and Todd Kuske, and Mike Bessert.
He continued to share his love for sports by running the YMCA basketball program for several years and coaching / mentoring his son and daughter's basketball teams prior to the school's sport programs. He made a positive impact on many young lives during this time and making sure each player felt like an important player on the team.
His quick wit and sense of humor was known by many.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; children: Stephanie (Don Jr.) Kuettel, Mindy (Jeff) Priebe, and Jacob (Randi) Linsmeyer; grandchildren: Trevor (Brooke) Rueden; Hannah, Hadley, Hensley, and Hixlyn Linsmeyer; Amanda Kuettel, Donald (special friend, Kayla) Kuettel, Vanessa (Phil) Kuettel, Dustin Kuettel, and Dean (Corrie) Kuettel; great-grandchildren: Jonah and Caleb Rueden, and Quinn Sykora. Further survived by his siblings: Gerald Linsmeyer, Joseph (Wendy) Linsmeyer, Robert (Kathy) Linsmeyer, Catherine (Bruce) Fleming, Rose (Steve) Collins, Glen (Lori) Linsmeyer, Linda (Steve) Johnson, Allen (Brenda) Linsmeyer, and Darlene (Chris) Swiecichowski. Also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: David (Corrine) Sievert, Barbara Wilson, Connie (David) Zeise, and Sandra (Mark) Treiber. many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Derek "Bear" Linsmeyer; step-daughter, Paige Linsmeyer; grandson, Owen; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Orville and Theresa Sievert; sister, Karen; brother, Larry Linsmeyer; sister-in-law, Kathy Linsmeyer; brother-in-law, Randy (Kathy) Sievert; nephews: Scott, Joe, and Matthew Linsmeyer; and Mitch Treiber; best friend, Mel Kuske; and godmother, Evelyn Hermus.
Visitation for Lenny will take place at St. John Catholic Church, Seymour on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 2:00 pm until the prayer service at 6:00 pm with Deacon Rich Matuszak.
