Leonard Prahl

September 22, 1926 — January 8, 2024

Leonard Bernard Prahl, age 97, was called to his Eternal Home on January 8, 2024.

Leonard was born on September 22, 1926, to the late William and Selma (Kosbab) Prahl in Cecil, WI.

He graduated from Bonduel High School in 1944. After graduation, he enlisted into the US Navy and proudly served his country from 1944-1946. Several years ago, he was honored to participate in the WWII Honor Flight to Washington DC. He was a member of the Shawano Legion Post 117. On November 11, 2022, Leonard was commemorated for being a Continuous Loyal Member of the American Legion for 75 years!

In 1947, Leonard attended Whitewater State Teachers College and graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Education. He received his Master's Degree in Business Education in 1958 from Northern Colorado State College, Greeley, Colorado.

Leonard was united in marriage to Audrey Allen, Ft Atkinson, WI, on September 4, 1948. They had 3 children: Susan (Larry) Roessler, Robert Prahl and Janet (Robert) Pancratz.

Audrey preceded him in death on January 25,1982 after 33 years of marriage.

For 36.5 years, Leonard taught various Business and Vocational Education classes in the Darien and Delavan-Darien School Districts. He also coached many different athletic teams throughout his career. He retired June 16, 1987 from Delavan-Darien High School as an Assistant Principal.

On June 20, 1987, he was united in marriage to Marcella Timmers, Appleton, WI.

They enjoyed 36 years together traveling and enjoying life with their friends and families. He resided with his wife, Sally, at Good Shepherd Assisted Living in Seymour, WI.

He enjoyed playing and watching all types of sports. He especially liked watching his children and grandchildren play. He and Sally loved the Packers! They enjoyed their season tickets at Lambeau Field for many years together.

He also loved and took pride in gardening, both vegetables and flowers. Woodworking was a fun hobby and he created many beautiful bird houses and outdoor holiday decorations.

He is survived by his wife, Marcella Prahl; children: Susan Kay (Larry) Roessler, Robert Leonard Prahl, Janet Audrey (Robert) Pancratz; grandchildren: Amy (William) Wilde, Thomas (Beth) Nelson, Heather (Addam) Friedl, Christopher (Jamie) Prahl, Michael Prahl, Daniel Prahl, Bryan (Elizabeth) Prahl, Robert (Felicia) Pancratz, and Ashley (Matthew) Nissen, and Aubrey (Marcus) Forner; 18 great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Gwen Chapman; step-grandson, Gordy (Christina) Chapman, and step-great-grandson, Oliver Chapman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Selma Prahl, first wife, Audrey Prahl; daughter-in law, Patricia (Robert) Prahl; brothers: Willard Prahl and Charles Prahl; sisters: Delores Berkhahn and Joan Prahl; son-in-law, Gregory Chapman II and step-grandson, Gregory Chapman III.

A private service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, WI with Pastor Ty Stoneburner officiating. Internment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin.
