Leonard O. Schmidt, age 90, of Seymour and formerly of New Holstein, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home with his family by his side. He was born June 2, 1920 to the late Carl and Flora (Pieper) Schmidt.
In November, 1939 he married Ethel Linquist. She preceded him in death on April 10, 1988.
Leonard graduated from New Holstein High School in 1938. He served in the US Army during World War II. Following his service in the Army he worked in New Holstein as a supervisor in a small engine plant. Leonard later moved to Seymour and worked as a service technician for Midwest Breeders until his retirement in 1985.
He enjoyed being outdoors and was an excellent trap shooter.
Leonard is survived by his children: James (Joyce) Schmidt, New Hampshire, Claudia (Larry) Banker, Seymour, David (Jolene) Schmidt, Seymour. He is further survived by six grandchildren: Laura MacInnis and Eric Schmidt of New Hampshire, Lisa Banker, Green Bay, Kathlina Banker, Virginia, David Banker, Seymour, and Emma Schmidt, Seymour; and five great grandchildren: Kasey, Kaela, C.J., Lex, and Lane. Also survived by a brother Evans Schmidt, Florida.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Arline (Edward) Ziegelbaer and Thelka (Greg) Koenig.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 from 9 AM until services at 11 AM. Burial will take place in the New Holstein Public Cemetery.
