Lloyd "Gabby" L. Kraft, 86, of Seymour passed away Tuesday morning, August 7, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. He was born February 23, 1926 to Arbie (Krause) and Anthony Kraft in Milan, WI. He attended Seymour High School. Lloyd served in World War II in the United States Army in the Pacific. He also served during the Korean conflict. He worked 33 years for Proctor and Gamble.
On April 19th, 1947 he married Esther Timmers.
Gabby was an avid cribbage player achieving honors as a Grand National Champion. He belonged to the American Cribbage Congress, played in cribbage tournaments all over the United States. He is the only cribbage player in the world to achieve the prestigious honor of winning World Championship in Reno in 1999 and Consolation Championship in 2006. He enjoyed athletic sports, going to all high school baseball, basketball and football games, missing very few events!
Lloyd was a member of the Krause Kraft Legion Post 106 for 65 years and a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Gabby participated in the Old Glory Honor Flight in 2010.
He is survived by wife of 65 years Esther; three daughters and one son: Marlene Kraft, Bonduel; Anthony (Tony) and Becky Kraft, Seymour; Karen and Mike Gonnering, Seymour; Virginia (Ginny) and Tony Huberty, Green Bay; he is also survived by grandsons: Aaron (Amy) Krahn, Evan (Leanne) Krahn, Ryan (Lindsay) Kraft, Dr. Tony (Laura) Kraft, Peter Kraft (fiancee Kari), James (Tammy) Blom, Kevin Blom, Wayne (Jodi) Blom; granddaughter, Suzie (Rick) Lancelle; He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren; his best buddy Shammi (Karen and Mikes yellow lab)
He is further survived by his brother, Vilas (Vernice) Kraft; sisters-in-law: Evelyn McGuiness, Leone Laskowski, Rose (Harry) Hill, Shirley Hirshman, and Sally (Len) Prahl; brothers-in-law: Henry Riegel, Peter (Rose) Timmers; nieces and nephews
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, Arbie and Anthony Kraft; daughter, Sandra; brother, Kenneth; sister, Gladys (Tom) Reed; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Lorraine (Wilmer) Jens, Eileen (Carl) Dahlen, Verla Riegel, Gordon Timmers, Arthur Laskowski, Ronald Hirshman, Richard McGuiness.
Friends may call at St. John's Catholic Church, Seymour on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. noon with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating.
