Lorraine E. Vandenberg, age 94, of Freedom, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, March 14, 2014 at the St. Paul Home, in Kaukauna. She was born August 13, 1919 daughter of the late John and Rena (Verstegen) Gonnering.
On August 11th 1939 she was united in marriage to Clarence (Mike) Vandenberg at St. Nicholas parish in Freedom. He preceded her in death June 4, 1995.
Lorraine had an incredible love and passion for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family and friends. She enjoyed bingo, bowling, baking, and playing cards. Lorraine was a member of St. Nicholas parish in Freedom and a member of the Christian Mothers.
She will be greatly missed by her family: Vionne (Robert "Beaver") Greiner, Freedom; Lois (Robert) Colson, Appleton-Florida; Michael (JoAnn) Vandenberg, Freedom; grandchildren: Robert (Lori) Greiner, Greg (Mary Beth) Greiner, Todd (Jenny) Greiner, Brenda (Tim) Vande Wettering, Dawn (Walt) Delaney, Michael Vandenberg (special friend Char), Kellie (Kelly "Doc") Peters, Kristie (Michael) Bock; great-grandchildren: Jonathon, Sage, Gavan, Laken, Quinn, Marisa Greiner; Brittni Jo (fiancAC.e Jake Le Noble), Taylor Vande Wettering; Terrance, Angel Delaney; Carli, Cassandra, Kennedy Peters; Brady, Canden Bock; Alex , Elliot Wyro; one brother, Eugene "Gene" Gonnering; two sisters: Rosie Stoffel, Patricia (Jerry) Kittiko; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Lois Gonnering, Sharon Gonnering, Alvin Vandenberg, Sister Germaine Vandenberg, Leo (Merry) Vandenberg; and her special god children.
Preceded in death by a granddaughter, Patricia Vandenberg; great-granddaughter, Faith; one sister, Adelle (Earl) Van Eperen, four brothers: Jack (Catherine) Gonnering, Bill (Dorothy) Gonnering, Donald Gonnering, Orville Gonnering; sister-in-law, Mary Gonnering; mother and father-in-law, Gilbert (Mary) Vandenberg; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Sylvester (Ceil) Vandenberg, Regina (Edward) Hendricks, William (Hilda) Vandenberg, Edward (Mary) Vandenberg, Mary (Bert) Geurts, Leona Vandenberg, Marion Vandenberg.
Friends may call at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 1 p.m. until Mass of Christian burial at 4 p.m. with Fr. Dan Felton officiating. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at
