Luella Theresa (Rueckert) Ward, 80, of Seymour, passed away in her home early on August 6, 2023. She was born May 27, 1943 to Edward and Agnes Rueckert.
On August 12, 1961 Luella was married to Carl William Ward at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Seymour. After birthing all six of their children, Luella worked a few places over the years, most notably Chilton Toy Factory and McCain Foods. After sustaining a hip injury in 2006, she retired.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to a growing family. Luella loved nothing more than caring for the family's children and babies, which were many throughout the years. Her hobbies included recreational gambling, puzzles, court tv and games shows. Although Luella was well known for her spunk, immovable attitude, and unpredictability, she also had a not-so-secret sweet tooth, addiction to Diet Pepsi and an endlessly contagious laugh.
Luella is survived by children Brenda Kneisler (Jim), Bretina Ward, Bridget Ward, son Brett Ward (Kathy) and daughter-in-law Lori Ward. Grandchildren include William Froehlich (Teresa), Carli Ward, Jennifer Froehlich, Monica Ahearn (James), Deanna Jaimes (Justin), Cory Ward (Angie), Bianca Jaimes, Carl J. Ward, Tyler Ward, and Nickolas Ward. Step-grandchildren include Tanya Zehren, Nikki Frenche, Tawni Thieme, Gwen Schulte, Jesse Schulte, Kayla Schulte Harney, and Ben Schulte. Great grandchildren include Haedyn, Madisyn, Destiny, Anthony, Logan, Summer, Julian, Chole, Jensen, William, Davina, Marlena, and Amillio. Special friend Cindy Claymore.
Preceded in death by husband Carl Ward, sons Brent Ward and Bryant Ward. Her parents Edward and Agnes, parents-in-law Joel and Rose Ward. Sisters Phyllis Rueckert, Louise (Ron) Christensen, Beverly (Bion) Ward, and brother John (Pam) Rueckert. Sisters-in-law Janice (Kenneth) Trettin, Debbie (Bill) Dicke, brothers-in-law Ivan Ward, William Ward, David Ward, Pat Ward, Dominico Piccolo, Robert Abel, Bruce Landsverk, Sam Rettler, and Hientz Kiesling.
The funeral mass for Luella will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Friday August 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Deacon Rich Matuszak and Fr. Sengole Dass officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral mass. Interment at Elm Lawn Cemetery.
