Lydia Summers Cornelius Denny, of Oneida, a resident of the Anna John Nursing Home passed away at her residence, at the age of 99. She was born August 4, 1907; she was the last surviving child of the late Taylor and Elizabeth (Wheelock) Summers. Lydia took great pride in teaching the Oneida language. She was a member of the Oneida VFW Auxiliary, a member of the Oneida Singers, and was a foster parent to many children.
She is survived by her daughters, June M. Begay (James Begay), Donna F. Lake (James Lake) and her son, Ira P. Cornelius (Cheryl); also sixteen grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Ira Cornelius, and her second husband, Joshua Denny; as well as a son, Gene Raymond Cornelius. Her eight brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, 358 S. Main St., Seymour, on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Oneida Singers will sing at the funeral home from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Seminary Road and Cty. Rd. E, in Oneida, from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral services at 2:00 p.m. with Branch President Ryan Cropper conducting the services. The burial will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Cemetery in Oneida. Online condolences may be expressed at www.boettcherfuneralhomes.com
