Lydia Summers Cornelius Denny, of Oneida, a resident of the Anna John Nursing Home passed away at her residence, at the age of 99. She was born August 4, 1907; she was the last surviving child of the late Taylor and Elizabeth (Wheelock) Summers. Lydia took great pride in teaching the Oneida language. She was a member of the Oneida VFW Auxiliary, a member of the Oneida Singers, and was a foster parent to many children.

She is survived by her daughters, June M. Begay (James Begay), Donna F. Lake (James Lake) and her son, Ira P. Cornelius (Cheryl); also sixteen grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Ira Cornelius, and her second husband, Joshua Denny; as well as a son, Gene Raymond Cornelius. Her eight brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.

Friends may call at the Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, 358 S. Main St., Seymour, on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Oneida Singers will sing at the funeral home from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Seminary Road and Cty. Rd. E, in Oneida, from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral services at 2:00 p.m. with Branch President Ryan Cropper conducting the services.
