Marcella “Marty” M. Leeman, 85, of Appleton, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018 at Carolina Manor. She was born in Janesville on October 6, 1932, daughter of the late Dominic and Marcella (Onaluska) Yasaitis.
On October 4, 1980, she was united in marriage to Henry “Hank” Leeman. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1995.
Marty was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Navarino.
Marty had three gigantic passions: music, photography, birds and bird watching. She had attended the American Academy of Music in Chicago, continuing to showcase her love of music throughout her life. Marty was a member of the Chaminade Women’s Chorus for over 30 years and also performed with her own band. As a young girl she had worked in a photography studio and that was the catalyst for an astonishing amateur photography career. During her life Marty had an unquenchable thirst for birds and flight. She was inspired by watching a little red plane and later earned her pilots license, with one of her greatest thrills being a ride in a hot air balloon.
Marty was also an accomplished professional, owning and operating a secretarial business in Appleton and serving on the Shiocton School Board. More than anything else in the world, she was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her children: Laura (John) Cella, Philip Calkins, Linda Calkins, Leslie (Randy Klitzke) Calkins, Lisa (Dave) Barth, Lee Anne (Gary) Colecci, Faye (Mark) Carpenter, Matthew (Wendy) Leeman, Malcom Leeman; grandchildren: Gina, (Jared) Lynch, Anna Cella, April and Jeremy Petroski, Kim Schroeder, Maria Calkins, Samantha Ehm, Ashley Moeller, Erin Bricco, Cassie Olson, Maranda Abitz, Courtney Zemple, Jason Colecci, Brandon (Lindsey) Carpenter, Amanda and Jeremiah Carpenter, Tosha (Austin) Fields, Mikayla Leeman, Kimberly Wilbur, Jaden and Riley Leeman; 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death a great-granddaughter, Madeline Noll; two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Navarino, from 9:30 am until the funeral mass at 11:00 am with Fr. Theodore Hendricks officiating. Burial will be take place in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery.
