Margaret Wagner

d. August 8, 2018

Margaret “Maggie” Wagner, age 53, of Seymour passed away at Froedtert Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee on August 8, 2018 after a brief and courageous battle with leukemia and pneumonia. She is survived by her beloved husband and best friend of 30-plus years, Jeff Wagner, and her two sons, Stephen and Sean Wagner.

She was born on June 25, 1965, a daughter of the late Patrick and Cecilia (Collier) Geenen. Growing up in an Irish-Catholic home in Freedom, Wisconsin, blessed Maggie with a number of principles, the most important being the value of faith and family. Her passion for the two grew with each passing year and she made sure to instill those same values in the people who surrounded her each day.

Maggie was always one to offer support and advice to whomever asked and touched countless lives during her time here. She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and simply spending time with family and friends. A firm believer that life was best spent enjoying the moment, Maggie chose to focus on and appreciate the things she had in life.

No matter the occasion, Maggie was known for bringing laughs, joy and her infectious smile wherever she went. She was always up for anything and enjoyed day trips with her family and friends to go rafting, play darts, try out her Irish luck in shake of the day, or simply go for a drive and explore. Regardless the occasion, if fun was to be had, Maggie was sure to bring it. She enjoyed cheering on her sons as they competed in track and cross-country throughout high school and college.

Maggie and Jeff have a love most of us strive for each day, but for them it came naturally. They became best friends from the moment they met and their love for each other only grew stronger over the 36 years they were together. Maggie’s wit and Jeff’s sense of humor made their love timeless and something that will live on forever.

Everyone was welcome at the Wagner household for fires, cards, or simply to talk. If you were ever in need, you could count on Maggie to be there to offer a shoulder, hug, or simply an ear to listen. Maggie’s vibrant personality was uplifting for everyone that knew her and something that was with her to the very end. She was able to find hope and comfort in even the bleakest situations and used her faith to guide her through.

Never one to complain, Maggie spent more time focused on loved ones than herself. Even in her final days, she was more concerned with how the people supporting her were holding up than her own well-being. If you have a favorite memory or story about Maggie, we would love to hear it – please feel free to reach out in any way.

Maggie also lives on through her five sisters, Patricia (Brian) Wickesberg; Mary (Dan) Gruper; Elizabeth Reavis; Alice (Todd) Rasmussen; Cecile Geenen; as well as a number of nieces and nephews: Mary Jo Wagner; Jacob and Jennifer. She is also survived by her father and mother-in-law, John and Joan Wagner, as well as her brother-in-law, Larry Wagner.
