Marnie Clement

May 9, 1972 — May 14, 2014

Marnie Rae Rykal Clement was born May 9th, 1972. She was diagnosed with cancer April 1st, 2014. She passed away on May 14th, 2014.

Marnie spent her early years in Cadott and Chippewa Falls, enjoying outdoor fun, bike rides, and playing with her siblings. After moving to Chetek, Marnie graduated from Chetek High School in 1990. She attended UW-La Crosse and graduated with a degree in Recreation. Marnie enjoyed many things, especially working with children and running. Her love of children started with babysitting, lifeguarding, and swimming lessons while still in high school. She worked at the Chetek Beach for several years and enjoyed the sun, the view, and the beach kids immensely. After college, she was the Aquatics Director for the Seymour Aquatic Center for 10 years. She then started working with The Little Minds Academy as the pre-school and 4K teacher for 8 years. She had a special ability to connect with children and people in general.

Marnie's love for running started while still in school when she discovered she had a natural gift for it. She loved her teams and the friendships she made with teammates, but enjoyed a solitary run so much as well. Marnie continues to hold several running records at Chetek and individually qualified for State Meets seven out of eight times. She was inducted into the Bulldog Hall of Fame for her many running accomplishments. While at UW-La Crosse, Marnie was on the track and cross country teams and was honored to be chosen by her teammates as the captain of both teams her senior year of college. Her love of running can also be seen in all the community runs, such as the Fishy Four in Chetek, and competitive runs, like the Bellin Run in Green Bay, which she completed later in life.

Marnie's greatest loves in her life are her two sons, Riley (11) and Reid (9) and her beloved John Ullmer (Shiocton). Marnie is survived by her parents Bob and Kathy Rykal of Chetek, her twin brother Mark (Madeline) Rykal of Chetek, her sister Stacie (Josh) Heier of Beaver Dam, her brother Jeff (Jeri Beth) Rykal of Plover, and her brother Craig (Katie) Rykal of Brooklyn Park, MN, her grandmother, Hazel Rykal. She dearly loved and was loved by her 12 nephews and nieces, Charlotte and Eleanor Rykal; Jack, Rae, Willem, and Theo Heier; Harrison, Cecelia, Hayden, and Cora Rykal; and Zoey and Lucy Rykal. Marnie is also survived by her closest and dearest friend Krista Gilberts Mars.

Marnie was a very sentimental person who loved holidays with her family.
She especially loved the Fourth of July celebration in Chetek culminating with sitting on the pontoon on Chetek Lake watching fireworks. Marnie had a gift for home dAC.cor and cultivating her flowers. Her home was warm on the inside because of her style and personal touches and beautiful on the outside because of her wonderful flower gardens.

She is preceded in death by the passing of grandparents Cora and John Roycraft and Leonard Rykal.
