Mary E. Gonnering, age 70, lifelong resident of Freedom, passed away peacefully November 11, 2009 in her husbands arms, with her four boys and her family by her side. She was born May 9, 1939 to the late Omer and Elizabeth (Rausch) Kaiver in Glenmore, WI.
On May 4, 1960 she married Gene Gonnering and the couple resided in the Town of Freedom. Mary did the bookwork for the family livestock business for many years. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. Mary was very proud of her 10 grandchildren and enjoyed being a special part of their lives.
Mary is survived by her husband Gene: her sons and their families: Ken (Sandra Effa) Gonnering, Freedom and their children: Kortney, Katie and Jacob; Keith (Cindy Diedrich) Gonnering, Town of Vandenbroek and their children: Maria, Elizabeth and Stephanie; Bruce (Donna Verhasselt) Gonnering, Freedom and their children: Amber, Jared, Leah and Allie; and youngest son Randal Gonnering, Appleton. She is further survived by her late brother Thomas's wife Lorraine; special lifetime friend June DeNoble and special friend Jane VandeWettering.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Kaiver.
A private funeral Mass was held on November 14, 2009 and burial was in the St. Nicholas Parish Cemetery, Freedom. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour is assisting the family.
