Mary A. Smurawa, 91, of Seymour, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at her home with her family by her side. She was born March 25, 1925, in Hofa Park, daughter of the late Casmier and Pauline (Lepak) Bruskiewicz.
Mary was currently a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Seymour, prior to this a long time member of St. Sebastian's Catholic Church, Isaar. She was employed with Good Shepherd Nursing Home and continued as a volunteer after retirement. She loved polka music, card playing, and watching the hamburger parade with her entire family from her front yard which she did this past Saturday. She loved time spent with her family and friends and her many dinners out. Mary enjoyed going out to Gerald's farm and helping out as much as she could, when she could, until she couldn't.
She is survived by her children: Gerald (Joan) Smurawa, Pulaski; Eleanor (Allen) Reindl, Town of Pittsfield; Evelyn (Emory) Gardner, Little Chute; Matt (Judy) Smurawa, Seymour; Margaret (Alan) Abrahamson, Mauston; Leonard (Joanne) Smurawa, Seymour; 16 grandchildren: 11 great-grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Francis "Frank" after 28 years of marriage; daughter-in-law, Christine; two grandchildren, Julie and Bruce.
Friends may call at St. Sebastian's Catholic Church, Isaar on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Brian Belongia and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at
