Mathilda Hermus

July 29, 1920 — October 31, 2012

Mathilda "Tillie" A. Hermus, 92, of Seymour, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Meadow Wood Assisted Living. She was born July 29, 1920 daughter of the late Joseph and Francis (Duffey) Linsmeyer. On June 18, 1949 she was united in marriage to John Hermus at St. John's Catholic Church in Seymour. They have been blessed with 63 wonderful happy years together.

She and her husband farmed at route 3 Seymour until their retirement in September of 1981. They then moved to Seymour and presently resides at Meadow Wood.

Tillie was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Oneida and a member of the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed her flowers, garden, playing cards, search and find puzzles, traveling, going to their cottage in Townsend, fishing, boating and swimming. She loved her family very much.

Survivors include her husband John; children: Kathleen (Roger) Kerkhoff, Mary Brocker, Sherry (Vaughn) Wilkinson, Ron (Cindy) Hermus, John Jr. (Debbie) Hermus, Mark Hermus (special friend Diane), Lee Hermus, James (Sandy) Hermus, Gene (Lori) Hermus; 17 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters: Loretta Steffens, Margaret Linsmeyer; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jane Linsmeyer, Rose (Harold) Hendricks, Evelyn Hermus and Antonette Van Handel.

Preceded in death by her son Jerome; brothers: Leonard, Edward, Frank and Joseph; sisters: Elsie, Ida and Mary; nieces and nephews and other in laws

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Friday, November 2, 2012 from 4-8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM and on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Oneida from 9:30 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with Fr.
