Maynard Robert Maas, age 87, Seymour, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. He was born on March 24, 1934, the son of the late Herman and Caroline (Gehrke) Maas. Maynard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany. After returning from service Maynard met Jean Nelson on a blind date. They were married on September 20, 1959, and the couple raised three loving daughters.
He was a faithful member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour. Maynard enjoyed walking and riding his bike. He was a successful dairy farmer, and he enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. The most important aspect of Maynard's life was his family. He was proud of his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and his great-grandson.
Maynard is survived by his loving wife, Jean, Seymour; three daughters: Sally (Bill) Stewart, Buffalo Grove, IL; Susan (Tim) Warnke, Tega Cay, S. Carolina; and Sandy (Fred) Ladenburger, Seymour; five grandchildren: Shari (Cody Brinkman) Stewart, Chicago; and Mark Stewart, Bermuda; Lauren (Eric) Olshefski, Elm Grove; Emily Warnke, Charlston, S. Carolina, and Jonathan Warnke, Tega Cay, S. Carolina; one great grandson, Emmett Olshefski, Elm Grove; one brother-in-law, Roger Weaver, Hartford; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Sally Nelson, he was preceded in death by three siblings: Herman "Hermie" (Carol) Maas, Leonard Maas, and Marlene Weaver.
Guests are asked to wear masks, please. Visitation for Maynard will take place on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 349 N. Main Street, Seymour at 9:00 a.m. until the celebration of life service at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Ty Stoneburner officiating. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
