Milton John Peters, Age 76
Milton passed away peacefully, after a short illness, at home on Friday, February 6, 2009, with his family by his side.
He was born - May 26, 1932, in Green Bay, the son of the late Seifred & Alzada (Fonder) Peters.
He was united in marriage to Rosella Philipsen on October 27, 1951, at St. Joseph's Church, Oneida.
Early on in Milt's career, he worked at Charmin Paper Mill, while actively farming in the Seymour area for 54 years. Milt was an active member of St John's Catholic Church in Seymour. There, he was a distributor, an usher and spent time on the parish council. He was Grand Knight for Knights of Columbus, Past President of Catholic Knights Insurance for many years, and on the Board of Directors for the Seymour Co-op, and DHIA Board Member.
In his younger days, Milt and Rosie loved roller-skating, snowmobiling, and bowling with friends. Later, Milt took up woodcraft; he loved fishing with anyone especially with his sons, and good friend Norm Rohm, hunting on his farm, playing cards, telling jokes and stories, spending time with family and friends, and 'tinkering.' At home, Milt took joy in feeding the birds and squirrels in his backyard. Many mornings were spent having breakfast at the Plaza Restaurant talking with friends and the waitresses.
Milt is survived by his loving wife, Rosie, his children Mike (Sue) Peters, Medford, Jim (Terri) Peters, Seymour, Diane Vonckx, Danville, KY, Ken (Sandie) Peters, Seymour, John Peters, Seymour, Susan (Tim) Heezen, Denmark, and Donna (Keven) Diederich, Green Bay.
Grandchildren - Mitch (Laura), Nicholas & Candice Peters, Ryan & Brent Peters (Fiance' Angela), Rob & Derek Vonckx, Rob, Stephanie, & Ashley Kohler, Justin Peters, Jill (Richie) England, Tiffany Peters, Matthew (Courtney) Scheible, Cory & Casey Diederich
Great-grandchildren - Evan and Marissa Peters, Nona Scheible
Brothers - Seifred Jr. (Betty) Peters, Don (Jeanne) Peters, and Sister-in-laws Martha Peters, Ruth & Alvin VanLanen, Brother-in-law Paul & Bernice Philipsen and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Milt is preceded in death by a daughter, Sally Peters, granddaughters Melissa Peters and Rita Scheible, and his brother, Randy Peters.
Milt will be missed by his family and friends and his many requests for hugs.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, Monday, Feb 9, from 4-8 pm. Prayer service will be at 7:30. On Tuesday, friends may call at St John's Catholic Church, Seymour, after 9:00am until time of service. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00, Father Bob Kabat officiating.
The family would like to thank Unity Hospice (Julie, Anne, Iris & Patti) for their care during this time, also Deacon Orville DeBruin, Father Bob, and the many friends that stopped by to visit.
Entombment will be in the Allouez Mausoleum
Milt will be missed by his family and friends and his many requests for hugs.
