Naomi A. Carpenter, age 94, of Seymour and formerly Navarino, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour.
She was born on October 17, 1929 daughter of the late Earl and Carrol (Leeman) Pues. On November 8, 1947 she married Leeland Carpenter in Navarino. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2010.
Naomi and Lee helped start Maranatha Baptist Church in Navarino in the 1960's (originally named First Baptist Church). Naomi loved children's ministries and working in the kitchen. She loved mission work, especially assembling scriptures with Bearing Precious Seed in Oshkosh and going on mission trips to Mexico with them. As a prayer warrior she is leaving big shoes to fill. Naomi was a dedicated wife and mother who raised her children with a fervent love of God and family.
She is survived by her daughters: Karen Jutila, Sue Ann (Rodney) Wickman, and Sarah (Larry) Spettel; daughter-in-law, Terrie Carpenter; 9 grandchildren: Samael (Melissa), Charlotte (Bruce), Cheryl (Al), Matthew (Helen), Daniel (Jodi), Jacqueline, Peter, Nicholas, and Stephanie (Mike); 10 great-grandchildren. Further survived by brother and sisters: Beverly "Beck" (Rose) Pues, Wayne (Betty) Pues, and Ellen (Phil) Noble; special family friend, Larry Sanders; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Steve Carpenter; son-in-law, Ron Jutila; siblings: Beulah (Ray) Kennedy, Sylvester "Bud", Vivian, Sherman (Marcella), and Rose Marie (Marvin).
