Norene Chambers, age 74, passed away at her residence Thursday afternoon, May 24, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 7, 1933 in Wilson, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Willie (Stewart) Wood. On May 13, 1949, she was united in marriage to Glenn Chambers in Gainsville, Texas. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1986. They had moved to Black Creek in 1981, and Norene later moved to Seymour. Norene enjoyed going to the casino and was a very avid reader. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed going "home" to Oklahoma and traveling to visit family.
She is survived by her children: Tony (Penny) Chambers, Black Creek; Glenda Sharon (Jim) Gessay, Black Creek; Shirley (Ron) Roberts, Seymour; Donna (Tony) Recker, Appleton; and Lorri (Jim) Hendzel, Oneida. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her sister Pearlene Jackson, and Aunt Rene's Jolene and Skip, of Texas; her brothers, Billy (Eldora) Wood, and Calvin (Linda) Wood, all of Oklahoma; and Leo (Jeannie) Wood, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Coleman and Franky Wood; her twin sister, Lorene; and her sister, Hazel.
Friends may call at the Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, 358 S. Main St., Seymour, on Monday, May 28, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, May 29 from 10 to 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Phillip Engle officiating.
