Oraletta Kailhofer

Oraletta "Letty" Kailhofer, 89 of Seymour, passed away on Wednesday morning, September 26, 2018, at Meadow Wood Assisted Living. She was born August 29, 1929, daughter of the late Oral and Luella (Hicks) Berry.

Letty graduated from Seymour High School in 1947 and attended Outagamie County Rural Normal Teachers College and Oshkosh State College. She taught school in Shiocton and Seymour and was a member of the Outagamie County Teacher’s Association.

On June 9, 1951 she was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Kailhofer in Seymour. Bob preceded her in death on July 26, 1988.

In 1956 Letty and Bob, along with Bob’s parents, Frank and Gert, purchased Kailhofer’s Greenhouse and continued working at the greenhouse until moving to Meadow Wood. Letty was proud to be a part of the floral presentations for many weddings and funerals in the Seymour community.

Letty was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, having served on the church council, served on the property committee, was a member of Sarah Group Bible Circle, and enjoyed the weekly 6:00 am bible classes. She was also a Past President of the Seymour AAL Branch #4089 and served on the Good Shepherd committee on grounds and decorations for three years.

She also was a member of Seymour Woman’s Club and served as President for several years. Letty co-chaired and worked in the VIP building for the Home of the Hamburger festival. She was also active with the Seymour Chamber of Commerce, serving on the board and was President in 1997. Letty was honored as Citizen of the Year in 1998.

Letty is survived by her son, Barry (Sandy) Kailhofer; daughter, Ann (Marshall) Younger Crandall; four granddaughters: Amanda (Joe) Timmer, Megan (Andrew) Peterson, Kylie (Ben) Kingery, and Kaitlin (special friend Ken Keith) Younger; great-grandchildren: Amelia Timmer and Ansel Peterson.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Irl (Dorothy) Berry.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Sunday, September 30, 2018, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, October 1, 2018, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Natalie Kramer officiating.
