Orville Zuberbier

December 29, 1924 — December 15, 2013

Orville H. Zuberbier, 88, Black Creek, passed away to his eternal home on Sunday, December 15, 2013. He was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin on December 29, 1924 to Hans and Minna (Hirte) Zuberbier. He attended St. Peter Lutheran Grade School, Weyauwega, Wisconsin and Weyauwega High School. On October 13, 1951 Orville was united in marriage to Vera Jane Volkman. Together they raised eight children and farmed on his father-in-law's farm in the Town of Center, rural Black Creek. Orv was born and raised in the city, but developed a love for farming on his grandparents farm and as a farmhand on a local farm after the farmer lost his arm in an accident. His faith and belief in Christian education was not only evident in his involvement with many committees at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Black Creek and Fox Valley Lutheran High School, but the fact that all eight children attended and graduated from Fox Valley Lutheran High School. Orv was also very active with the Outagamie County Farm Bureau, the former Center Valley Cooperative. Orville was a complete Wisconsin sports fan, Packers, Badgers, Brewers, and Bucks and seldom missed a game on the television, would never turn down a game of sheepshead, and was an avid bowler in his younger days.

Orville is further survived by three sisters: Lorraine Clifton, Appleton, Delores Volkman, Appleton, Phyllis Nelson, New London, sister-in-law, Marjorie Volkman, Seymour, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-laws, Al Clifton, Carl Volkman, Gary Nelson, brother and sister-in-laws, Arnold Volkman, Ruth (Howard) Gehrke, Waldemar (Elaine) Volkman, son-in-law, Ken Ballard, great-granddaughter Zoey Zuberbier. Dad's affliction with Dementia robbed him of many things, but never diminished his love for his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. As we expressed our love for him, he stated that our love for him did not exceed his love for us.
