Otto Krueger

November 8, 1942 — May 26, 2016

Otto B. Krueger, 73, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born November 8, 1942, son of the late Otto Herman and Gladys (Giffey) Krueger. On August 2, 1964, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Connie Gunderson. She preceded him in death on August 21, 2006

Otto taught Industrial Technology at Seymour High School for over 25 years before retiring in 1997. His thirty-plus year teaching career began in 1966 at Lake Geneva. The family moved briefly to Medford High before Otto joined the Seymour Community School District.

He was a proud graduate of UW-Stout. In 1966 Otto earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Industrial Education, then followed up with a Master's of Science Degree in 1970.

A lifelong teacher and educator, Otto was very proud to have led the Seymour High Student Housing Project where he mentored many students, helping them to develop lifelong skills as they built homes throughout Seymour. Otto was an excellent craftsman that enjoyed wood carving and producing fine wood furniture. He was a voracious reader, fond of and fascinated by American history.

Otto most enjoyed spending time with family, good friends and traveling with Connie. His granddaughters were the apple of his eye. He was also an avid outdoorsman who particularly loved "deer camp" and the opening weekend of fishing. He enjoyed playing cards of all varieties, but cribbage was his game of choice. Otto had a passion for baking, cooking, pickling, and canning. He often delivered many of his pies, cakes, and other creations to family and friends. Otto liked participating and watching sports. He wrestled collegiately and coached the sport during the first several years of his teaching career. In addition to his love for family, Otto cherished Wire-Haired Fox Terrier dogs. Danny, Snoopy, Rocky and Buster were an important part of his family throughout the years.

Otto is survived by one son, Jeff (Heidi) Krueger, Little Suamico; one daughter, Laurie (Steve) Broas, Neenah; two granddaughters, Ella and Olivia Krueger; brothers: William Krueger of Sparta, WI, and David (Marilyn) Krueger of N. Fond du Lac, WI; sister-in-law: Sherry (John) Draxler, La Habra, CA; and brother-in-law, Rick (Cathy) Gunderson, Poulsbo, WA; along with nephews, nieces, and cousins.
