Paul J. Cappaert, 65, of Freedom, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 surrounded by his family. Paul was a true warrior, enduring many years of medical challenges with remarkable strength and faith. Born on September 11, 1958 he was the son of the late Joseph and Leone (Guyette) Cappaert.
Paul's greatest passion was his Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He found immense joy in repairing, customizing, and riding them across the country with friends and family. Alongside his love for motorcycles, Paul enjoyed hunting and fishing, and cherished his time at the family cottage, especially with his grandchildren. A true animal lover, he had a generous heart and took in a wide range of animals over the years.
Known for his remarkable storytelling ability, Paul could transform even the most ordinary events into captivating tales.
Paul worked for over 25 years at Pierce Manufacturing in paint and graphic design, where he built many lifelong friendships. He was known for his wide circle of friends and his ability to connect with people wherever he went.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; his children Chad (spouse: Michelle; children: Gracie, Mallory, Cooper), Angela (spouse: Scott; children: Khloe, Kinzley), Steve (spouse: Laura; children: Cody, Gemma, Damon, Rosie), Brian (partner: George; children: Elliott), and Alli (partner: Will); his siblings Tony (Carol), Therese (David), John (Wendy), Julia (Larry), and his late brother Mark, as well as the mother of Chad and Angela, Marilee. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will be held at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home in Seymour on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The visitation will continue at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 9:00 am until the funeral mass at 11:00 am, with Father Matt Settle officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund in Paul's name.
