Paul J. Philipsen, age 82, passed away Monday, August 17, 2009 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. He was born August 20, 1926 to the late John and Gertrude (Brugman) Philipsen. On June 24, 1950 he was united in marriage to Bernice Detrie in Duck Creek.
Paul was a World War II Army Veteran and a member of the Seymour American Legion Post and the VFW. Paul farmed and worked various jobs including MRK Construction for 16 years and after his retirement from farming worked for Seymour Canning. He enjoyed building windmills. In 2000 he received his honorary high school diploma from Seymour High School due to not finishing high school prior to serving his country during WWII.
Paul is survived by his wife Bernice and their children, Kathy (Clayton) Goffard, DePere; LuAnn (Jim) Peters, Shiocton; Sharon (David) Verheyen, Brillon; Dean (Lori) Philipsen, DePere; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth (Alvin) Van Lanen, Oneida; Rosella Peters, Seymour.
He was preceded in death by an infant son Terry, son-in-law Dale Toellner, grandson Joe Peters, one sister Virginia, one brother Alfred, and brother-in-laws Maynard Krahn and Milton Peters.
Friends may call at the Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 from 4 PM to 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Oneida, from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM, with Father Dave Duffeck and Deacon Bobby Doxtator officiating.
