Phyllis Schmidt, 90, Black Creek, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. She was born May 3, 1931, to the late John and Lula (Schultz) Burke, and was a graduate of Appleton High School. Phyllis was united in marriage to Richard Schmidt on June 16, 1962. Richard preceded Phyllis in death on July 22, 2012.
Phyllis was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Black Creek, where she belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid. She worked for Home Mutual Insurance Company for many years. Phyllis had a passion for arts and crafts, and her work was very imaginative. She had totes of decorations, and enjoyed decorating for every season and holiday.
She is survived by her son, William Schmidt, Appleton; one grandson, Blane Shepard (special friend, Madisyn Doepker), Black Creek; sisters-in-law: Beverly Burke, Appleton, Orla Schmidt, Neenah; one Godson, Scott (Laura) Schultz, Black Creek; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Carrie Schmidt; one brother, James Burke; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Janet (Alvin) Kasten, David Schmidt, and Gilbert (Dorothy) Schmidt.
Visitation will take place at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home on Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Steve Schlicht officiating. Burial will take place in spring at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Black Creek.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
