Raymond "Ray" A. Van De Hei, age 87, of Seymour passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014. He was born September 17, 1926 a son of the late George and Ann (Kerkhoff) Van De Hei.
Ray was united in marriage to Grace Kempen on June 9, 1949 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom.
He was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Seymour.
Ray worked as a mason and dairy farmed most of his life. He later worked for Outagamie County until his retirement.
One of his favorite things to do was going out to the farm with the boys. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, going to basketball games, and his grandchildren's sporting events. Ray loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his wife, Grace; 11 children: Richard (Shirley) Van De Hei, Freedom; Roy (Christine) Van De Hei, Seymour; Marge (Richard) Matuszak, Seymour; Thomas (Nancy) Van De Hei, Seymour; Dale (Julie) Vande Hei, Black Creek; Susan (Rick) Mikle, Gillett; Dennis (Jill) Van De Hei, Seymour; Mark (Kerri) Van De Hei, Seymour; Michael (Dar) Van De Hei, Seymour; Sandra (James) Hermus, Seymour; and James (Cindy) Van De Hei, Seymour; 32 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. Further survived by sisters-in-law: Rose Van De Hei, Marcella Van De Hei, Alice Van De Hei, and Rosemary Van De Hei; brothers-in-law: Robert (Arlene) Kempen, Francis (Anna Marie) Kempen, and sister-in-law, Marian Fischer. Ray is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Dale Kasten; 7 brothers: Harold, Kenneth, Arthur, John, Clarence, Donald, and Alvin; in-laws: Raymond Kempen, Clarence Kempen, Bertha Schuh, and Stella Calmes
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 4 pm to 8 pm with a parish prayer service at 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour, on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 9 am until the funeral mass at 11 am with Father Bob Kabat and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. Entombment will take place at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay.
