Raymond S. Van Handel, age 87, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday morning, September 7, 2011 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. He was born on October 7, 1923, son of the late William and Margaret (Vanden Bloomen) Van Handel.
On April 5, 1945 he was united in marriage to Hortense Smet, in Kaukauna, she preceded him in death on November 6, 1997. Ray and his wife farmed in the Town of Cicero for many years.
Survivors include his son, Don (Judy) Van Handel, Seymour; grandchildren: Bill (Kim) Van Handel, Seymour; Jim (Natalie) Van Handel, Seymour; Sara Van Handel, Seymour; great grandchildren: Brooke, Brian, Ryan and Riley; sisters: Betty Roach, Green Bay; Grace (Doyle) Jordan, Oneida; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Clarence (Margaret) Smet, Joe (Ceil) Smet, Margaret Bowers; Katie Schlimm, Francis Smet
Preceded in death by his wife, Hortense, great grandson, Kyle, two infant brothers; four sisters: Esther, Millie, Florence, Agnes; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Clement Schlimm, John (Josie) Wallace; Norman Bowers, Germaine Smet, Marion Smet, Ervin Malinski
Friends may call on Friday, September 9, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour from 9:30 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
