Rene Joseph Grode, 71, Town of Center, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, February 14, 2022. He was born on March 1, 1950, to the late Willard and Aurelia (Schmaltz) Grode. Rene was a 1968 graduate of Hortonville High School. He continued his education at Oshkosh Tech and Fox Valley Tech, where he graduated with an Associate's Degree in petroleum marketing.
Rene was united in marriage to Lois A. Willenkamp on December 1, 1978. He was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Mackville, where he served as a trustee and belonged to the finance council. Rene was the president of Distributive Education Club of America in 1969, was president of the Fox River Valley Racing Club from 1976-1978, and also was president of Disabled Citizens. He owned and operated Valley Auto Parts and All Seasons Storage for 35 years. Rene currently owned Valley Auto Electric.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; one brother, Floyd Grode; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Judy Grode, Ray Nussbaum, Robert Willenkamp, Karen (Gene) Krull, Connie (Allen) Krull, and Larry (fiancee, Marilyn Lathrop) Willenkamp; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; his canine companion, Jake Grode.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Audrey Nussbaum, Myron Grode, and Roger Grode; two sisters-in-law: Norma Grode, and Carol Willenkamp; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Helen (Dieck) Willencamp; and Lois' step-father, Gilbert Kindschy.
Visitation will take place at St. Edward Catholic Church, Mackville (N2926 WI-47, Appleton) on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 12:00 noon, Deacon Jeff Hofacker officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The family extends a special thanks to the Outagamie County Sheriff's Department and the Town of Center First Responders. Also, a heartfelt thanks to Dewey, all of our friends and neighbors, and Lois' friend, Dawn, for all of their care and concern.
