Richard Gjertson

Richard "Rick" Gjertson, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 surrounded by family.

Rick was born in Fond du lac on July 17, 1952, a son of the late George Wrolstad and Dorothy Holland Gjertson. He married the love of his life, Diane on September 10, 1982.

Rick was a champion high hurdler at Goodrich High School in 1968-1970 and excelled at every sport. He received a scholarship to attend the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.

In his earlier days, he loved taking long walks with his wife, taking his '84 Trans Am out for a spin, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed creating model sailing ships & cars in his spare time. Rick was a humble and gentle man who placed his family above all else.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane and children: April (Matthew) Berry & granddaughter Allison of Bonney Lake, WA, Stephany (Brent) Boettcher of Seymour, WI. He is further survived by three brothers: Robert (Carol) Gjertson of Port Washington, David (Sue) Gjertson of Marietta, GA, and Gary (Mary) Gjertson of Howell, MI; three sisters: Barbara (Mark) Robertson of Burnsville, MN, Mary Zwicker of Fond du Lac, and Kathleen (Robert) Crouch of Fond du Lac.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, an infant brother, his father & mother in-law (Carl and Doris Kasarsky), and his sister, Susan Reader.

Visitation will take place at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the Compassus Hospice team who took such good care of Dad in his final days. Their compassion and kindness are deeply appreciated.
