Rita M. Biese, 90, of Seymour, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, March 28, 2015. She was born April 17, 1924, daughter of the late Henry and Alvina (Hackl) Van Den Heuvel. On June 22, 1946 she was united in marriage to Elzer H. Biese. The couple was married and farmed for over 55 years. He preceded her in death December 3, 2001.
Rita was a 1942 graduate of Seymour High School. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour and a member of the Catholic Knights for 80 years where she served as secretary of the branch for 40 years. Rita was a member of the Woodland Homemakers for 70 years, the Peacemakers Quilters Group and a past 4-H leader. She enjoyed spending time with family, sewing, quilting, playing cards, bowling, gardening, cooking and canning.
Rita is survived by her children: Mary (Norm) Steffens, Appleton; Barbara (James) Benzschawel, Appleton; Henry (Pam) Biese, Seymour; Gerald (Ruth) Biese, Seymour; Joan (David) Lease, Wasilla, Alaska; William (Linda) Biese, Black Creek; Joseph (Sue) Biese, Black Creek; Carol (Sam) Van Dyke, Green Bay; Janice (Dale) Schuessler, Seymour; Richard (Kimberly) Biese, Burns, Tennessee; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; siblings: Henry Van Den Heuvel (special friend Diane), Little Chute; Donald (Rosemary) Van Den Heuvel, Seymour; Mary Ann (John) Erickson, Neenah; Elsie (Boniface) Mitchell, Combine Locks; sister-in-law, Dorothy Van Den Heuvel, Seymour.
Preceded in death by a grandson and three great-grandchildren; one brother.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 8 p.m. and visitation will continue at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11 a.m. with Fr.
