Robert "Bob" Willis Barton, 88 of Oneida, WI passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 6, 1935, in Maplewood West Virginia to the late James Barton and Elizabeth Miller Barton Chapman. He was married to his loving wife of 68 years Julie Cornelius Barton in Chicago Illinois at Lincoln Methodist Church on November 25, 1956.
Bob served in the Army at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland where he was honorably discharged. He moved to Chicago to work where he met Julie Cornelius and married her in 1956. In 1967 they moved to Oneida Wisconsin and raised their family. After 27 years he retired from Georgia Pacific. Bob enjoyed turkey and deer hunting with his sons and grandsons. He also enjoyed being in his garden where he was known for his green thumb and shared his bountiful harvests with family, friends, and community. He was an avid Brewers and Packers fan. Bob was known for his unique sense of humor and leaving everyone with a smile on their face. He enjoyed his Sunday morning breakfasts with his son Kendall and anyone else who stopped by.
Bob is survived by his wife Julie, his siblings Walter (Gilda) Barton, Mary Ann (Mike) Holiday and Harry (Lois Ann) Chapman, his sister-in-law Cleo Cornelius, his five children Robert C. (Kerry) Barton, Nancy Barton, Larry (Jane) Barton, Lori (Mel) Webster, Kendall (Sue) Barton and his special bonus son John (Mary) VanStippen. He is further survived by his 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. And many close friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Elizabeth, siblings Amy (Gard) Willis, James Jr (Macel) Barton, and Gene Barton, mother-in-law and father-in-law Frances and Charles Cornelius, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Harriet (Norbert Sr.) Jorgensen, Harold Cornelius, Harrison (Louise) Cornelius, Merlin (Janice) Cornelius, Evangeline VanStippen, Roberta (Rueben) Anderson, Irene (Leroy) Lenhart, Charlene Cornelius, Wayne Cornelius, and Ronald (Rosalea) Cornelius and his grandson Jason Peters.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the St. Vincent's Hospital staff, Odd Fellows Home Rehabilitation Level 1 staff for their kindness to Bob and excellent care.
Friends and family may visit Muehl-Boettcher Funeral home in Seymour, Wi, Friday, November 29, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 12:30 PM. The Oneida Hymn Singers will be in attendance at 12:00 PM until 12:30 PM. Following the service, burial will be at Oneida Sacred Burial Grounds.
