Robert “Bob” J. Daoust, 74, of Seymour, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born July 3, 1943, son of the late Joseph and Geneva (Rentmeester) Daoust. On May 23, 1970, he was united in marriage to Grace Ann Schaumberg. The couple would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on May 23rd.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour.
Bob attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School and was a 1961 graduate of Seymour High School. He worked at Mielke Pontiac for 40 years and Gustmans Automotive for 12 years. Bob enjoyed woodworking, fishing, Seymour Stompers Car Club, traveling, hunting with his beagles, watching baseball and football, and listening to “True” country music.
He is survived by his wife Grace; daughters: Sara (Michael) Sickels, Dana (James) Racine; grandchildren: Tyler Sickels (fiancée, Erica Polar), Caden and, Audin Racine; two sisters: Ruth (Eugene) Kobriger, Mildred Sherwood; one brother, Eugene Daoust; brother-in-law, Gerald Lietermann; mother-in-law, Gladys Schaumberg; in-laws: Gary (Becky) Schaumberg, Karen Schmit, Scott (Sarah) Schaumberg, Sue Schaumberg; Godchildren: Laurie Eiting, Philip Daoust, Joseph Kobriger and Cheri Ledvina; nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Vicki; sister, Helen Lietermann; father-in-law, Gerald Schaumberg; brothers-in-law: Douglas, Bruce, Gregory Schaumberg and Michael Schmit.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 4-8 pm with a prayer service at 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue, on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at St. John Catholic Church from 9:30 am until the funeral mass at 11:00 am with Father Brian Belongia officiating.
