Robert "Bob" Hurning, 66, of Black Creek, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 21, 2010 after a long struggle with emphysema. He was born in Oconto, WI on March 3, 1944. He married his loving wife Kathleen Rose Anderla on December 17, 1977. He worked at Spancrete Industries in Green Bay, WI until he became disabled due to his illness.
Bob was a stoic, kind, and generous man who greatly cared for his family, friends, and neighbors. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, which was his sanctuary. His most cherished time was spent with his grandson, Sean Nuttall, whom he affectionately referred to as his "Best Buddy". He beamed with pride when Sean and he would work on projects together, go four-wheeling, or simply watch cartoons together. His dedication to his community could be seen as he moved around his neighborhood on his John Deere, clearing snow and mowing lawns with only the desire to make the lives of others easier.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen Anderla Hurning; son, Steven Markins; daughter, Charity (Dan) Nuttall; grandson, Sean Nuttall; brothers and sisters, Peter and Karen Anderla, Roger and Susan Papesh, Janet Anderla and Denny Gramm, Greg and Mary Anderla, John and Elsie Hurning, Jessie Mosseler, Delmar and Virginia Hurning, Claude and Patsy Caelwarts, Billy and Clara Hurning, Ann Gilbert, Doris Hurning, Betty Hurning, Randy and Clara Devroy, Mike and Karen Mertens; their families and many other relatives, friends, and neighbors.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Marion Hurning; Leo and Darcella Anderla; and by his daughter Officer Stephanie Markins.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:30 pm followed by mass, on Tuesday, May 25, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek, WI with Father Ted Hendricks officiating. He will be laid to rest at Nadeau Township Cemetery in Nadeau, MI. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Bob's memory.
A special thank you would like to be extended to Scott and Laurie Papesh and their family, and Carisa Papesh for their time and help during Bob's battle with his disease. Your love and kindness will always be remembered.
