Robert Mehler, age 75, of Briarton, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Bellin Hospital. He was born in Milwaukee on August 26, 1937 son of Matthew and Ruth (Baumann) Mehler.
Bob attended Menomonee Falls High School and graduated in 1955. He served in the US Naval Reserve in 1955 and served in the US Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958.
On June 19, 1965 he was united in marriage to Roberta Jones.
Bob initially worked as a mechanic before becoming a machinist and later opened an engine rebuilding business in Norway, MI. He later did contract work as a machine tool rebuilder. Bob continued working in machine tooling after being semi-retired.
He loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing (especially in the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska), trapping, and also loved to read and was a very good carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta; five children: Diana Mehler, Shawano; Kat (Brad) Larson, Minneapolis; Mark (Rebecca) Mehler, Madison; Mike Mehler, Briarton; Dawn (Tividar) Bernhardt, Seattle; two grandchildren: Nikolas Schmitt and Oliver Bernhardt. Further survived by his mother, Ruth Mehler, Nichols; two sisters: Judith (John) Holt, Maine; and Patricia Boulton, Colgate, WI. Also survived by in-laws, nieces, and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by a son Steven; his father Matthew Mehler; and sister Janice Mehler.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Saturday, April 20th, 2013 from 1 PM until memorial services at 4:30 pm with Deacon Don Coenen officiating. Interment will take place at St. Lawrence Parish Cemetery, Navarino.
