Robert L. Ulmen, 86, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. He was born May 17, 1930, son of the late Joseph and Lucille (Roemer) Ulmen. On June 8, 1957, he was united in marriage to Irma Calaway.
Bob graduated from Seymour High School in 1948 and he retired from JC Penney's as a stock room supervisor.
Robert was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict Era, he was in the Army Medical Core, was a past commander and life member of the American Legion Post 106, life member of the Past Commander's Club of Wisconsin, life member of VFW Post 7692 of Freedom. Bob enjoyed participating in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C., last year. Bob served as an Alderman on the1st Ward for the City of Seymour in the late 1980's.
Bob enjoyed polka music, especially the Susie polka, saw sharpening, spending weekends up north, and a Blatz lite beer.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Seymour.
Bob is survived by his wife, Irma; children: Wayne R. (Julie) Ulmen, Green Bay; Patricia A. (Rick) Bridges, Seymour; David J. (Barb) Ulmen, Lake Tomahawk; Lois M. (Dave) Wachtendonk, Seymour; Diane M. (fiancAC., Rick Wall) Ulmen, Idaho Falls; Bette A. (Randy) Theobald, Black Creek; Daniel F. (Jackie) Ulmen, Black Creek; 22 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings: Betty (Bob) Bauernfiend, Mary Geenen, Sister Rose Ulmen OSF, Helen Tillotson, Dorothy Ulmen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Marge Calaway, Gen (Don) Quinnette, Delores Calaway, Kathy Calaway, Nancy Calaway and Ron (Barb) Calaway.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph (Dorothy) Ulmen and James Ulmen; sister, Margaret Cooney; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Joe Geenen, Jerome Calaway, Ken Calaway, Neil Calaway and Paul Calaway.
Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral mass at 12:00 p.m. with Fr. Brian Belongia and Fr. Bob Kabat officiating. Burial will take place in the Allouez Catholic Cemetery, Military Rites will follow.
