Robert Walters

Robert "Bob" E. Walters, age 79, of Langlade died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital with his family by his side. He was born August 1, 1935 a son of the late Ivan and Minnie (Combs) Walters. He graduated from White Lake High School in 1953. Bob later served in the US Army.

In 1960 he bought his father's bar and restaurant in Langlade and has continued operating Bob and Joni's Northern Lights until his death. He had many roles in his business from cook to bartender.

On December 15, 1991 he married Joni Vanden Plas in Green Bay, celebrating over 22 years of marriage.

Bob was a car enthusiast and loved his Lincoln's. He enjoyed traveling and visited Hawaii, Bahamas, Tennessee, several trips to Florida, and he fell in love with Mexico. One of his favorite things to do was to have his morning walk out to his game farm.

In addition to his wife Joni, he is survived by four children: Renee (Don) Skarlupka, Laurie (Terry) Hoernke, Rick Walters, and Jeremy Walters; grandchildren: Jenny, Bruce, Michael, Sarah, Dan, Shaun, Austin, and Liam; great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine (Jim) Beery; sister-in-law, Marilyn Walters; special sister-in-law, Lori Vanden Plas; and further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Sharron; three brothers: Larry, Bill, and Laverne "Sonny" Walters.

Bob will be taken back "home" with the visitation taking place on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Bob and Joni's (corner of Hwy 64 and Hwy 55 in Langlade) from 10 am until the funeral service at 2 pm . Bob will be buried in the Langlade Cemetery. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with arrangements.
