Roger A. Roskom, age 83, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 9, 2021. He was born on June 1, 1937 to the late Arnold and Verona (Abel) Roskom.
On May 5, 1959, he was united in marriage to Sandra Armitage at St. John Catholic Church in Seymour where he remained a member ever since. Sandra preceded him in death on February 28, 2017.
He served in the National Guard for 10 years.
Roger drove concrete truck for the majority of his life, and he also drove trucks and school buses over the years.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, racing stock cars, and his never ending love of polkas. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him the most joy.
He is survived by seven children: Pete (Cheryl) Roskom, Tony (Julie) Roskom, Vicki (Gary) Grieger, Staci (Jeff) Nelson, Juli (Joe) Meulemans, Cheryl (Scott) Ruechel, and Debbi (Jeff) Roche; 25 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; siblings: Dennis (Rosie) Roskom, Connie (Bob) Banker, Allen (Cindy) Roskom, Linda Roskom, Bill (Kay) Roskom, Carol (Dennis Reese) Storma, Pat (Doug) Houf, Ginny VanLannen, Brian (Kelly) Diedrick; In-laws: Armen Armitage, Milton (Ruth) Armitage, and Margo (Donald) Malueg; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Steven, David and Ronald Roskom; sister, Ione (Ron) Zahn; and sister-in-law, Rose Armitage.
Visitation will take place at St. John Catholic Church, Seymour, on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 9:30 am until the memorial mass at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery.
