Ronald Seidl

Ronald "Ron", "Sliver" E. Seidl, 82, of Seymour passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 29, 2024. He was born on June 10, 1942 son of the late Elmer "Babe" and Eleanor "Ellie" (Oskey) Seidl.

Ron graduated from Seymour High School in 1960. Following graduation, he enlisted in the National Guard and served from 1960 to 1967.

On November 6, 1968 he was united in marriage to Patricia Laundre at Immaculate Conception in Oneida.

Ron owned and operated Seidl Body Shop. His father, Babe, started the business in 1954 and Ron joined him and took over the business in 1978. He continued operating the shop until his retirement in 2010 ish.

He served the City of Seymour in many different capacities. From 1985 to 2008 he was an alderman and ended his service to the city council serving as the president. Ron also served on the Seymour Rescue Squad from 1975 to 2000 and retired from the Seymour Fire Department following his service from 1970 to 2004.

The cabin up north at Mountain was one of his favorite places to be, along with "cutting wood" and "deer hunting" with his buddies in Silver Cliff. He also enjoyed his Thursday night bowling league, playing cribbage, and attended many NASCAR races with his friends. He enjoyed the company of his children, and especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; children: Tim (Candie) Seidl, Mary (Michael) Trunzo, John (Susan) Seidl, and Kate (Greg) Schuette; grandchildren: Tyler (Kristi) and Emily Seidl, Jack and Maya Trunzo; Logan, Ellie, and Emma Schuette; and great-granddaughter, Mable Seidl. He is further survived by a brother-in-law, Bob Schreiber; aunt, Jean O'Keefe; members of the Laundre family, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sue "Susie" Schreiber.

Visitation for Ron will take place at St. John Catholic Church, Seymour, on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 9:00 am until the funeral mass at 12:00 pm with Fr. Sengole Dass and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ron's memory are appreciated to support the causes that he served.
