Ruth Selmer

Ruth Raney Selmer, age 96, of Seymour, Wis., died Monday evening, November 25, 2013 at Meadow Wood Assisted Living Community in Seymour.
Mrs. Selmer was born in Milwaukee, Wis. on May 30, 1917, daughter of Chester D. and Gretchen (Klein) Raney. She graduated from Shorewood High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BS degree in 1938 and a master's degree in English the following year.
Ruth married Norman Henry Selmer March 7, 1943 in Milwaukee. She was a teacher in the Oconomowoc and Milwaukee school systems and in Green Bay after moving to Seymour. She served on the boards of the Seymour Canning Company, Seymour Public Schools and Muehl-Public Library as well as being active in the Girl Scouts and the Literary Council of Green Bay. Ruth was an avid traveler, Badger and Packer fan, lover of dogs and an English language and literature enthusiast.
She was dearly loved and is survived by a son, John and daughter-in-law Barbara, Seymour; a daughter, Karen Paulsen and partner Rolf Kohler, Plantation, FL; two grandchildren: grandson David Norman, wife Alyssa and great grandson Emi, Iowa City, Iowa; granddaughter Erin Ruth, Madison, Wis.; four nieces and three nephews.
Friends may call at the Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. Online condolences may be expressed at www.muehlboettcher.com .
A private funeral service will be held. Burial will be in Fort Howard Cemetery, Green Bay.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established to Good Shepherd Services, Seymour.
